New Build Country Pub for J.W. Lees
J.W Lees first new build pub in 16 years was designed & built to stunning effect as an aspirational community spirited pub with a classic yet contemporary feel.
THE BRIEF
The Aviator is located within the curtilage of the former Woodford Aerodrome site at the entrance to the new Woodford Garden Village housing development. The former Aerodrome produced notable military aircraft including Lancaster & Vulcan bombers.
The architecture of the pub is in keeping with the local area, the interior design is airy and modern but with warm and cosy finishes creating the feeling of a relaxed rural inn.
THE DESIGN
The pub layout offers a central ‘L’ shaped bar, inviting snug & dining areas, large double height garden room & includes 3no. real fireplaces.
The interior design uses a classic material palette that stands the test of time using deep buttoned leather & tonal textiles, warm oak timber floors & traditional mosaic tiles, oak reeded dado boarding, feature planting and antique brass & marble detailing.
External features include the outside beer garden / covered drinking terrace complete with aviation-themed playground & open-fronted cabin seating.
