The Brief
Originally designed by Fusion by Design in 2012, our long-standing clients felt it was time for a refresh. Although the pub had served successfully for over a decade, its interior still held a timeless charm. Working closely with our clients, our aim was to reinterpret that enduring aesthetic with a more contemporary, confident edge. Perfectly positioned on the A610 leading into the centre of Nottingham, The Nuthall enjoys a prime location — making it an ideal destination for family gatherings, relaxed lunches with friends, and private celebrations.
The Design
The design creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that balances modern pub character with everyday comfort. The existing layout, proven successful, has been retained, with the focus on elevating each area through refined detailing, tactile finishes, and layered lighting.
The main bar serves as the social heart, featuring a 3D green-tiled front, dark walnut-stained reeded timber, and gold powder-coated overbars. Rich marble tabletops, deep fabrics, and warm amber lighting add intimacy, while trailing foliage introduces vibrancy.
In the rear dining area, patterned wallpaper and feature fabrics bring depth and sophistication, complemented by antique mirrors and statement lighting that add reflection and texture. The front dining space and conservatory adopt a lighter, brighter palette yet maintain cohesion through a unifying foliage motif and consistent finishes.
The completed scheme achieves a seamless balance of comfort and style. Modern detailing, layered materials, and warm tones celebrate The Nuthall’s enduring character — refreshed yet familiar, and perfectly suited to guests throughout the day and evening.
